Wild About Reading at the LA Zoo

On Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 4, 2018, the Los Angeles Zoo hosts WILD ABOUT READING, sponsored by First 5 LA and presented in partnership with HarperCollins Publishers. This event is in honor of National Family Literacy Month, which is celebrated across the U.S. to showcase the importance of reading as a family and its lifelong benefits. This event is open to all Zoo guests and invites readers of all ages to enjoy book readings, activities, and meet some of HarperCollins’ most beloved children’s book characters.

HarperCollins and the L.A. Zoo will host character meet-and-greets in Treetops Terrace with storybook characters Biscuit, Pete the Cat, Danny the Dinosaur, and Cookie Mouse. Books that will be read for each character include Danny and the Dinosaur (written and illustrated by Syd Hoff), Biscuit and the Big Parade (written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, illustrated by Pat Schories), If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (written by Laura Numeroff, illustrated by Felicia Bond), and Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes (written by Kimberly and James Dean, illustrated by James Dean). The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with meet-and-greets with the characters from 10:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m., and includes activities and book readings for the whole family to enjoy.
