Publish your own book or print a hidden gem

Novels, poems, journals, family recipes… the possibilities are endless

Say hello to the only espresso book machine in the entire west coast!

Back in 2010, Flintridge Bookstore became one of very few independent bookstores that acquired the Espresso Book Machine, not just in the whole country but the whole world!

Now, we are just one of TWO independent bookstores in all of the United States operating this machine, and we are so very happy to continue its special services.

The Espresso is an extraordinary book-making machine that prints, binds, and trims books on demand. Once Time Magazine’s “invention of the year,” our machine has the ability to print books from digital inventories, to include out-of-print public domain Google books.

Countless literary works can be turned into fully bound volumes in an instant. The EBM transforms digital files into a paperback book complete with a cover, and the quality is near indistinguishable from books produced by traditional publishers.

So why should you use the Espresso Book Machine?

Well, maybe you’re writing a research paper and need a hard copy version of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s original manuscripts. Or maybe you found out there’s a digital file of your family tree dating back generations and want to print it for a Christmas gift. Or maybe you’ve written a memoir, children’s book, or collection of poems that you want to publish for the world to see.

Whatever the reason, our extraordinary Espresso Book Machine is here for you. There is no minimum number for print orders, so you can print as few or as many copies as you need. In other words, all books are made to order so there are no overruns or wasted resources.

Our bookstore has helped local authors, community members, and visitors from far and wide self-publish tons of books! Some examples are Arbiter 11: The Astrocyte Incident by Ford Riley, Patchwork Poems by David Nile Chase, and Out of Tune Piano Blues by James Boyk.

The beauty of this machine, and perhaps our greatest pride in offering its services, is the ability to create a book just for YOU. Unlike traditional publishing companies, we offer customized, hands-on care to make sure you can get printed copies of your book for affordable prices. Our designated employees will remain in communication and collaboration with you throughout the entire process, and will be there to help you along the way. You can choose from a package below, or contact us at espresso@flintridgebooks.com.

**We can arrange for shipping to any domestic address, and all books can either be offered for sale or kept private (whichever is best for the project). If you decide to make the book available for sale, the author retains all rights to the work and is responsible for setting the retail price.

Below are some examples of books that were printed with our Espresso Book Machine:
