The Best New SF & Fantasy Short Stories of the Year

Writers of the Future Volume 41 is an anthology that presents the unexpected, the thought-provoking, and the unforgettable. Celebrating the best new voices in speculative fiction, this collection offers gripping tales of science fiction, fantasy, and beyond

Haileigh Enriquez is a Los Angeles-born artist with a mix of Mexican/Yaqui Native American, and Salvarodan roots. She is driven by a desire to create characters that celebrate cultural diversity.

Haileigh graduated from Laguna College of Art & Design in 2022. She is a character/concept designer, portrait artist, and illustrator. Her work blends fantastical realism, bold colors, and dynamic lines, drawing heavily from her love of comic book art and Mesoamerican mythology. She is also currently developing her own superhero series.

Haleight’s illustration (bottom left) is for the story Slip Stone by Sandra Skalski: Carlos Buela doesn’t know where or when he is, or how to find the bus back home – but that rock he bought as a souvenir is to blame.

CL Fors is an artist and author with a passion for research based sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and speculative fiction. She works in multiple mediums: the written word, illustration in watercolor, acrylic, digital, and ink.

CL has been a film actor, military intelligence linguist, doula, childbirth educator, and belly- dancer. She has published four books in her Primogenitor series: Cradle of Mars, Breach of Mars, Crowning of Mars and Futures of Mars.

CL’s illustration (bottom right) is for the story A World of Repetitions by Seth Atwater Jr.,: The world is trapped in a time loop. Everything resets except memories. With reality fractured, humanity struggles to forge a new normal.
