Flintridge Bookstore & 24 other Local Businesses
Join Forces in Annual July Event Celebrating
“Shop Local”
Where’s Waldo Local? Flintridge Bookstore and twenty-four other businesses in La Cañada Flintridge come together once again this year to celebrate our community and the iconic character from the popular Waldo series, created by Martin Handford. Where’s Waldo Local is a favorite summertime event here and in communities nationwide. So, join us for some hide-and-seek fun. The hunt lasts for the entire month of July and culminates with a party at Flintridge Bookstore, including prizes, as well as refreshments contributed by participating businesses. The party is on Saturday, August 2, from 11 AM – noon.
Families love joining the scavenger hunt to find Waldo with his red-and-white-striped shirt and black glasses, hidden this year in these twenty-five local businesses: Flintridge Bookstore, Aloha Kids,
Berge’s Sandwiches, Button Nose Pet Shop, Cakery Bakery, Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, Constellation Coffee, Dish Restaurant, Fresh Brothers, Gio’s Bakery & Café, Handel’s Ice Cream, Honeybird, La Cañada Pool & Patio, Los Gringos Locos, Penelope’s Café, Rhodes School of Music, Round Table Pizza, See’s Candy, Smoothie Shop, Solez, Stephanie’s Art Gallery/Framing,
Stepping Stones to Learning, Twigs & Things, UPS Store, and opening this month on Foothill Boulevard, Le Petit Pantry.
Where’s Waldo Local? supports the Shop Local movement by increasing foot traffic to a variety of community businesses. To join in the fun, people can simply pick up a Find Waldo Local in La Cañada Flintridge stamp card with instructions at any of the participating stores. With each miniature Waldo they spot, searchers get their card stamped. And as a bonus, eagle-eyed hunters can also look for Waldo’s special 2025 magnifying glass hidden in Flintridge Bookstore! Collecting stamps at twenty or more businesses entitles diligent seekers entry into a grand-prize drawing for Waldo books and other prizes at the party on August 2.
Martin Handford’s collections of crowd scenes took the world by storm in the late 1980s, and since then the books have held a cherished place on bookstore shelves, in family libraries, and in classrooms around the globe. About 80 million Waldo books have been sold worldwide, and they’ve been translated into over thirty languages.
