Marketing and Branding for Writers  (FB Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/2045397955786236/

Please join us on September 15 for our San Gabriel Valley Women Writers meeting: Desiree Duffy shows us how to effectively market and brand ourselves as writers!

What do you really need to know about branding and marketing yourself as a writer? You’ve likely been told to build your brand and create your marketing platform. What does that mean in practical terms? In this conversation, Desireé Duffy cuts through the fluff and discusses practical ways to build your brand and marketing platform as a writer. Topics include why you need a professional-looking head shot, a well-written bio, the right social media presence (and what that means), and why your personal brand matters when preparing for your pitch for media interviews and articles.

Desireé Duffy is the founder of the award-winning Black Château, a marketing and public relations agency for authors. The company’s motto is, "We Believe in Storytellers," and its mission is to help authors’ voices be heard around the world through the written word. Duffy’s early career was in radio as a host, producer, and in promotions. She’s held several marketing and public relations roles in consumer goods, entertainment, and non-profit industries. Her most recent corporate position, prior to launching Black Château, was as vice president of a digital marketing agency. She currently chairs the Alliance of Women in Media’s Advisory Board and writes for Equites.com as a contributor on marketing, digital media, technology, and entrepreneurship. She lives in Southern California with her husband and two puggles—Spike and Teddy Bear. Visit her atwww.BlackChateauEnterprises.com.

SGVWW meets monthly, usually on the third Saturdays, to network and learn about a different topic related to writing and publishing. Please come early so you can get breakfast before starting time, and RSVP here so we can save you a seat.

See you on September 15!

Remember, women-identified writers need to join the San Gabriel Valley Women Writers Facebook group first, before they can see any of the Facebook events. Please join us!
