Mrs. Healey’s class read advance review copies of new books to let us know which books we should get for our store.  Here are their opinions:

 

Deep Down Popular by Phoebe Stone ( Levine-Scholastic 1/08)

I would recommend this book to 6th and 7th grade girls. (Mikaela C.)

Candyfloss by Jacqueline Wilson (Roaring Brook)

I don’t recommend it, because the ending wasn’t very good. (Kylie B.)

Hurricane by Terry Trueman (HarperCollins 2/08)

Hurricane was very good, but sad. If you can’t handle death, don’t read it. (Ischaak F.)

Slam Dunk! By Sharon Robinson (Scholastic Press)

I recommend this to people who like basketball. (Austin G.)

Kickoff! By Tiki and Ronde Barber (S&S)

I recommend this book to kids who enjoy football.(Joseph S.)

Amulet. by Kazu Kiburishi

Emily is trying to get her mother. It’s a good book for people who love mystical powers and adventure. (Ryan L.)

This book is good for people that like mysteries and trying to find missing people. (Lexie R.)

Elvis and Olive by Stephanie Watson (Scholastic 4/08)

I recommend this book to 5th and 6th grade girls who like adventure.

Oggie Coder by Sara Weeks (Scholastic)

It is funny and cool. I would recommend it to whoever has fun. (Emma B.)

Ibby’s Magic Weekend by Heather Dyer (Scholastic2/08)

This book was about a girl named Ibby who was having a weekend without her parents and her brother does all these crazy things. It was random and really confusing. (Elle K.)

Warrior’s:Firestar’s Quest by Erin Hunter

This book is about  Firestar rebuilding the Skyclan that was broken.  I would recommend this  to people who like action and adventure and loves cats and like Warriers, Apprentices, leaders, clans and fighting.  (Noah K.)

Beyond Escape by RA Mongtomery

This book is about a chief of Operations who is trying to find his secret agents. I would recommend this book, because there are lots of fun adventures. (Jacob Y.)

The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti (Scholastic 2/08)

             This book is a good historical fiction . It’s good for boys in 6th and 7th grade and sort of good for girls. (Talia B)

Guardians of Ga”Hoole: A Guide Book to the Great Tree by Huang (Scholastic)

This book is good for people who like fantasy and those who are going to read the series. (Matthew L.)

Spiderwick Chronicles: Nixie’s Song by Holly Black

This book is about two kids who find a four leaf clover which gives them a sight to see mythical creatures and get attacked by a giant. I would recommend this to boys and girls who like fantasy books. (Graham L-B)
